SOURTON Parish Council has set out some guidelines for people using the Granite Way cycle path.

The path, which uses the old railway line between Okehampton and Lydford, has a section that runs through the parish of Sourton and is popular with cyclists, walkers and horse riders alike.

Although the parish council has no responsibility for any part of the Granite Way, it has received complaints from some users about the behaviour of others on the path.

With that in mind the parish council has offered the following advice:

Cyclists — make your presence known when approaching other users from behind and pass with care, giving a wide berth to horse riders.

Walkers — Leave room for cyclists to pass you safely.

Dog walkers — Make sure your dogs are under control and are well behaved towards other users. Remove your dog’s waste and do not leave poo bgs on the track or hanging in bushes. Bags can be disposed of in dog bins along the track in Lydford and at Prewley.

Horse riders — Be aware that not everyone is used to horses, so expect the unexpected and remain polite.
