THE London premiere of a new work for Woodwind Trio by well-known Tavistock composer Andrew Wilson was presented recently in a concert given by the nationally renowned Phoenix-Grove Wind Trio.

The recital was held in St Anne and St Agnes? Church in Gresham Street, in the heart of the City of London.

The performance was part of the prestigious St Anne?s Music Society Series. Andrew rose to acknowledge the enthusiastic applause of the large audience who clearly enjoyed the piece.

The composition was inspired by the landscape and people of Tavistock where the composer has lived since becoming director of music at Kelly College in 1992.

The next chance to hear music by Andrew Wilson locally, will be on Thursday, April 29 in Tavistock Church. Then local choirs, under the baton of conductor Simon Ible, will premiere a specially commissioned work for the Tavistock Sings Festival ? The Tavistock Witch which is based on an old Devon folk-tale.
