WITH the New Year starting and football underway again the plans for the biggest football festival in Tavistock are under way.

The Son Rise Cup Football Festival takes place on the weekend of May 21/22 and there will be more than a 1,000 footballers taking part with some new cup matches taking place.

The men's Devon FA Son-Rise Cup for Autism Registered Trophy will be run by Adam Hopkins from the Devon FA and Barry Mountstevens from Tavistock Community Sports Centre.

Twenty mens teams will have the opportunity to form two leagues and the winning sides of each league will play in the Final on Langsford Park on the Sunday afternoon.

The winning side will have a beer voucher of £100 from South West Wall Coatings Ltd. Joe Fitzgerald to celebrate their win. Already the Navy, Devon and Cornwall Police, The Union Inn, Tavvy Legends and the Plymouth Fire Brigade have confirmed entry!

The Devon Junior Minor League are also involved with this years event and so many Referees will be blowing their whistles all over the football facilities at the TCFC Crowndale pitches and the TCSC all weather pitches.

Teams from 8-16yrs will take part in tournaments or finals each one being sponsored by a local business, so thank you to them all again!
