ON Sunday, May 19 I presented the cup to the winners of the Tavy v Pontivy under 14s football final in the Son-Rise tournament. The match was excellent with superb play from both sides.

The Son-Rise event saw just under 120 teams entering, including the Devon Ability teams. Crowndale and the Tavistock College grounds were covered with teams of footballers from far and wide.

All this needs the help and support of volunteers and Allen Lewis and his wonderful team invite residents to help in the planning and funding of next year's event.

I have been happy to support this event with funds from the county councillor locality budget and I am happy to write to the local press to help the organisers attract some more volunteers and funding for next year.

If you would like to volunteer, why not join the helpers at the Tavy Club, Tuesday, June 18 at 7pm. The buzz was great, if you join in and help you could feel the buzz too!
