A FANTASTIC day was had by all as seniors and juniors fought hard in the Son Rise cup competition at Langsford Park, Tavistock on Sunday. The event, in aid of Tavistock Youth Cafe Plus, involved the Tavistock Tyres and Union United team playing officers from the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary, cheered on by a large crowd of supporters. In the end the match was decided on penalties with the Tavistock team winning through. Forty players from four teams — Ivybridge Town, Tavistock Thistles, AFC Plympton and Tavistock Town — took part in a junior competition with Tavistock Town taking the title from the Thistles 3- 2. All players were presented with commemorative medals at the end. A big thank you was expressed to everyone involved in the event especially the police and all the sponsors. The Tavistock Youth Cafe Plus supports special needs children and their families.
