PUPILS at Delaware Community Primary recently enjoyed a street party at the school to celebrate the royal wedding and the May Day festival.

The children took part in Maypole dancing and received a cheque from Pearce's garage in Gunnislake to help pay for a new kit for the school's basketball team.

The school, which recently achieved an outstanding Ofsted status, is working closely with the Plymouth Raiders and could not have paid for the new team and cheer-leading kits without the help of sponsors Pearce's, Tamar Foods and Yaskin Sports, all of whom were approached by the children themselves.

Delaware School and its pupils are now busy organising a large basketball tournament and fete to be held in June.
