Tavistock Hockey Men?s 1st XI 1 Mid Somerset 2 AFTER taking a little pressure from the visitors Tavistock Hockey Men?s 1st XI began to settle. Edwards?s aerial ball, releasing Lovett for a one on one with mid-Somerset?s keeper however, showed how the game was to go. Mid-Somerset?s keeper was constantly tested during the first half, with long periods of possession from Way and Barratt in mid field with both Honey Snr and Jnr linking well resulted in a number of penalty corner set plays from which Tavistock were unable to convert. Tavistock?s defence of Thomas, Lethbridge (capt), Bradley, Manley and Edwards took responsibility for a number of poor clearances resulting in a penalty corner from which the visitors entered the break leading 1-0. The second half started catching Tavistock unaware, and soon found themselves 2-0 down but rebuilding, once more took possession of the game, with Nicholls substituting Pitts from the first half opening up the left side of the pitch. More penalty corners followed and with 12 minutes to go Tavistock found the target with a Lethbridge strike. Feeling they were back on track,Tavistock pressured the Mid Somerset defence right to the end but alas time ran out on them. This week, away to Dawlish in the last league game before the Christmas break.
