Devon U15?s Rugby Sevens Festival Crediton TAVISTOCK had the misfortune to be drawn in the same group as Devonport, Ivybridge and Sidmouth in the Devon U15 Rugby Sevens Festival at Crediton so it was always going to be a challenge. The first game was against Devonport, which ended 15-12 to Tavistock. Mark Webber scored two tries and Aaron Churchill one. The team played their best rugby and hopes rose. Game number two was Sidmouth who attacked from the start and were rewarded with two quick tries before Tavistock settled themselves. Tavistock pulled one back through Jack Hodges which Euan McCall converted but Sidmouth were too strong and scored two more tries before the final whistle. Final score Sidmouth 24 Tavistock 7. Tavistock took on the might of Ivybridge next and were completely overrun in the first half. The second half, however was closer and Jake Chinn and Ewan Smith put in some good tackles to slow down the Ivybridge advance. The final scoreline was Ivybridge 33, Tavistock 0 but the boys? performance in the second half helped to salvage some pride. Player of the tournament for Tavistock was Jake Chinn.
