A WEST Devon artist is presenting her first solo show at the Duchy Square Centre for Creativity at Princetown this month.

Rose Gibbon of Mary Tavy said: 'Although I have always drawn and painted, I started studying art about ten years ago, after losing my first husband to cancer and then caring for my late mother.

'With the support of my lovely husband David, I finally graduated  with a BA in fine art from Plymouth University last year.

Rose said living at Mary Tavy, she was enclosed and encircled by Dartmoor's intriguing landscape, the changing seasons and moods.

'I have a fascination and desire to explore the hidden geography in my mind, obscured in the unconscious by imagination, emotion or trauma, and released in dreams and visions,' said Rose, whose exhibition can be seen at Princetown until September 11.
