TAVISTOCK won the toss and chose to field against the Chairman?s XI. Prolific scorer Arnie Searle was soon back in the pavilion, bowled by South African Andile Qomoyi. Chris Cashell, the other opener, provided solid support at one end, batting throughout the 40 overs for 59 not out. He was joined at the fall of the second wicket by David Manning who, once into his stride, launched a savage attack on the Tavistock bowling. He hit a magnificent 145 not out in 86 balls with an array of sixes and fours rocketing to the boundary. The Chairman?s XI totalled 298-2. Qomoyi soon took up the challenge, hitting sixes and fours in a rapid 54 before being stumped off the Chairman?s bowling. Although Sean Cleave and Jake Luffman attempted a recovery, the forty overs expired with Tavistock finishing on 181 all out, James Kaminski finishing off the tail with 4 wickets for 19 runs.
