Soon after Okes showed their pace with Arnie Searle running in from the halfway line and finishing in the corner after strong work again from the Okehampton pack. Ali Mason tackled superbly and controlled the ball well at the back of the scrum, taking a hat-trick of tries from destructive driving from the front. Lee Carey took two tries through determined running in the middle of the pack. Buckfastleigh attempted to stunt the Okes? try fest with a couple of short range penalties. The platform for this comprehensive victory came from a solid performance up front. Man of the match was tight head prop Danny Carey, who also bagged a try. Searle scored another and Dave Watts bagged two late tries out wide. This week the Okes ? who have won their last four league games ? face a sterner test against league higher Tiverton in the second round of the Powergen Junior Vase, kick-off 3pm.
