CHILDREN in key stage two at Lamerton C of E Primary School have spent the summer learning about the Romans.

Children and staff last week arrived in togas with Roman packed lunches for a special Roman day in which they used the shields they had made to practice battle formations and drills.

The key stage one children pretended to be Celts and were given sponge balls as ammunition to try to break through the shields formation.

The children also cooked their own Roman foods to eat at a banquet and played Roman ball games.
