Plymstock Albion Oaks Colts 32

Tavistock Colts 29

TAVISTOCK slipped to their second defeat of the season as the home side grabbed the points with the last play of a closely fought game.

Early Tavistock possession was lost as the home side squeezed in at the corner for the opening score.

The visitors hit back with a Jez Cramoysan penalty before some good handling by the backs enabled Dan Oner to break away and touch down under the posts. Cramoysan converted.

The home side responded with a penalty and then increased their lead with a drive over for a try in the corner. Monty Burdfield for Tavistock nearly broke through after a great run from his own 22 and then Niall Murphy was just put out in the corner after being fed by Oner.

The second half began with both teams trading possession until a great take at a lineout by Robin Jones saw the ball fed across the backs to Mark Friend who accelerated down the wing to touchdown. Josh Leeson converted.

The home side though retook the lead with a penalty. This did not last long as another take from Jones at a lineout set up a classic rolling maul that took Joe Hair over for a try. Leeson converted.

Tavistock increased their lead as Friend scored his second try with another devastating run up the wing and touchdown in the corner. However, the home side hit back with a break down the wing that saw the ball worked across for a try in the corner.

With time running out Tavistock came under severe pressure and could not gain possession and following a series of scrums and penalties close to the line, the home side grabbed the win with a try in the corner.
