MAY I say a big thank you through your newspaper to everyone who has helped and supported me in raising money for Help for Heroes.

Back in April we raised over £450, after expenses, at a quiz and wine and cheese event — my aim was to make this up to £500. Over this weekend we have done car boots at Mary Tavy and Yelverton and I am delighted to say we have exceeded our expectations and raised £704.55, which will all be forwarded to this very worthy cause.

Thank you to everyone who bought on our stall.

RECENTLY we held a fundraising day to enable me to afford an adapted vehicle. The day was a great success and I am very appreciative for everything that everyone has done to ensure this was made possible.

There is no-one more cherished in this world than those that lighten the burden of another. I wish I could individually thank every single person that helped to organise and make sure that this was such a triumph. It was lovely to see the whole of Tavistock and its surrounding family pull together in such a way that I have not seen before.

It has been a long year and a half for my family and I, so all the help that we have received from various places around our community has been thankfully accepted.

ON behalf of Tavistock Carers' Support Group we would like to thank everyone for making our recent tombola event held in our wonderful pannier market such a success.

It raised over £120, which will be used to support future events for carers who look after their loved ones 24/7.

Our special thanks go to the Times for advertising our event, the market reeve and all the stallholders for making us so welcome and supporting us.

Our grateful thanks also go to the many local retailers who so generously donated prizes, making the tombola possible.

We hope you will not mind us approaching you all again as we hope to make this an annual event in carers' week.

Once again, many thanks also go to the general public for supporting in our efforts to make people aware of the invaluable work done by carers everywhere.
