THERE was no quarter given in this tough affair in the Tavistock social club snooker league as Conservative B and Conservative C battled through a close match.

Con C skipper Jago kept a cool head to pip Roffey to the post in the first of three black ball games, putting his side one up. Craze repeated his good form last week with another accomplished performance to comfortably beat Kellaway and put Con C two up.

Back came the B team with a sound display from Willson over Lillicrap. Next it was all square as the B team's skipper Mark Evans kept his nerve to take another black ball game and overcome a good challenge from Neale. Down to the deciding frame with the B Team's Dolan up against Bassett. In a game of few chances with Dolan playing some exceptional safety it was not surprising that yet again a black ball would decide the match. Bassett was good enough for the task and with it went the spoils to Con C by the slenderest of margins. This was a tough evenly balanced match, which either side could have won.
