Carlsberg South West Peninsula League Tavistock AFC 4 Falmouth Town 2 THE snow flurries and bone chilling winds were most unseasonal fare but the weather was not the greatest surprise. At the end of a distinctly summery game so effervescent were Tavistock that high flying Falmouth Town were dispatched back down the A38 with relative ease. It did not start so brightly with the Lambs in arrears after just five minutes following poor defensive marking: it could even have been worse with Lambs' keeper Andy Meeds having to make a stunning save from close range. However, Tavistock grew in confidence and began to gain the ascendancy. Chances came and went before Lee Coxon warmed the cockles of the faithful, firing home from the edge of the box. The game continued to ebb and flow with both sides trading goals before the interval, but one sensed that Tavistock would be the happier and the most likely to prevail with the conditions in their favour in the second half. Falmouth's afternoon began to collapse around them with the pressure one way. Only lack of composure and profligacy prevented Tavistock from extending their lead, but Will Stringer settled matters, converting a penalty on 70 minutes. Ten minutes later the victory was sealed when Glyn Hobbs fired home past an unsighted keeper. This was a good performance from the Lambs which eases any doubts about slipping into the relegation dog fight.
