WELLIES were flung and plates were smashed at Horrabridge's annual Summer Fair this weekend.

Held in Weir Park, villagers and visitors were entertained by a falconry display by West Country Falconry and the Tavistock Majorettes.

They also had a chance to take part in a beer barrel race and peruse the many stalls held by local organisations.

The Rev Geoff Lloyd said: 'It went very well. We were a bit down on numbers at first but when the sun came out, the people came out. We raised around £1,000 for the United Church of Horrabridge.

'There was a really good atmosphere, the Horrabridge Cavaliers supplied burgers and hot dogs from a barbecue and we had a grand draw with more than 25 prizes. The draw was well supported by local businesses.'

Prizes included a Sunday roast at the Bedford Hotel, a meal at the Moorland Links Hotel and a camera supplied by Tesco.
