STAFF and children at an East Cornwall pre-school group are celebrating the end of term with a great report from the education watchdog Ofsted.

The inspector, Sarah Wignall, visited Harrowbarrow Pre-School, based in the village hall, in March, and has graded the group as 'good'.

Ms Wignall said: 'Children are happy and well settled in this small setting, and respond well to the positive atmosphere in the group.

'Children demonstrate a strong sense of belonging as they confidently talk to adults and each other.'

Ms Wignall said the children were well supported at the pre-school, and this support was boosted by the strong partnerships that existed between staff, parents and carers.

She said: 'The setting is committed to providing good quality care, and regular evaluation helps to identify strengths and future improvements.

'The small staff team work very well together.'

Ms Wignall said to improve further, the group should review its deployment of staff and review and develop the organisation of the learning environment.

Harrowbarrow Pre-School is open on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 8.45am and 12.45pm and takes children from two and a half years of age.

Karen Bennett, chairman of the pre-school, said: 'With only 20 places we are usually full, but some spaces are available.

'We have a fantastic setting in the village hall, with our own secure garden, nature walks right on our doorstep, regular access to the village school for the older children, and now the woodland play park has been opened we have even more options for outside play.'
