LYDFORD Primary last year shared the honours with Gulworthy, but this year they went one better and won the TASC six-a-side competition outright.

They defeated Mary Tavy 2-1, Gulworthy 1-0 and Lamerton 4-0 to reach the final and play a strong Princetown side.

The final was a close run affair with Lydford gaining plenty of possession but not making many scoring chances. When a goal came it was not given as the ball had deflected above head height before crossing the line.

As extra time loomed Lydford scored through Harry Geering to secure the cup.

Throughout the competition Ben Broom was secure in goal with Thomas Friend, Martin Rylands and Ben Robertson forming a resolute defence.

Edward Squire worked tirelessly in midfield, aided by Phillip Garvey, and Harry Geering always posed problems up front.

This was an exceptional performance by the Lydford team as they were by far the smallest school in the competition.
