PHIL?Dyson, who retired in 1987 after many years teaching in Tavistock College, continued his interest in literature and published 'Slugs and Snails and Puppy Dogs' Tails', a selection of poems.
As the title suggests, he takes an unsentimental look at childhood and explores the altering of attitudes through the changing of life's experiences.
He is one of Tavistock's DIY Poetry Group, the members of which meet every week, each producing a new poem. In the past he directed many plays at the college, has run drama groups with the Tavistock Young Farmers and Pinhole Youth Group, was a drama tutor and has written plays including 'Aware', 'Journeys Westward' and 'The Dream of Lady Macbeth' which were produced at the Barbican Theatre in Plymouth.
His poetry book is obtainable from local bookshops.
