A WOMAN from West Devon was all in a twirl after meeting TV?s bad boy of dance, Brendan Cole at Slimming World?s Woman of the Year 2007 semi-finals. Mairead West, of Yelverton, was representing Devon after shedding a combined weight of 14 stone. She and another slimmer, Amanda Leavey, of Plymouth, were voted through to the final stages of this prestigious competition by hundreds of other slimmers from Devon because of their ?commitment and inspirational attitude?. They were part of 34 ?lucky? women from all over the UK to take to the floor with the ?ladies? man? of ballroom dance, at Slimming World?s head office in Derbyshire. Mairead attends the Yelverton Slimming World group which runs on Wednesdays at 6.30pm at the Rock Methodist Church in the village. Brendan has danced with a host of celebrities, including Natasha Kaplinsky, Fiona Phillips and Claire King and he can currently be seen on TV?s Strictly Come Dancing programme, dancing with glamorous Kelly Brook. Brendan said: ?In my profession I?m lucky to meet lots of beautiful women and today was no exception. ?Amanda and Mairead have achieved amazing results with their weight loss and they both look fantastic now.
