A TEAM from Tavistock pannier market were bowled over by their success at the recent skittles evening organised by the local branch of the RNLI. Five teams participated, with the market team winning by one point in the play-off against a team led by the president of Tavistock RNLI. The evening, held at the Blacksmiths Arms at Lamerton, raised £204.90 for the charity and included a draw and throwing coins to win a bottle of whisky. The event closely followed the branch's annual meeting at the Royal British Legion in Tavistock. The total raised for the year was £5,750 and chairman Gareth Huxtable thanked supporters, businesses and members of the public who had helped raise the sum. He said it had been a very successful year, although the total was down on the previous one, and the small committee had worked hard.
