Tavistock 1st 4
Liskeard 2
TAVISTOCK men?s hockey team faced yet again another youthful side from the South West 1 league.
Liskeard took the lead early in the first half. This seemed to kick-start Tavistock who settled well into their usual fast attacking play and were soon rewarded with a goal by Nick Andrews aided by a slight deflection.
With the majority of play well in to the opposition half of the pitch, and pressing hard, Tavistock won a number of penalty corners. Phil Edwards put them ahead with a thunderous shot to which even the quick Liskeard keeper could not react.
Liskeard were fighting hard and when Mike Yeoman struck home with his second of the day, the scores were levelled.
With 15 minutes to go, Matt Way broke through the Liskeard defence and after a darting run to the baseline, crossed to the waiting Andrews who scored his second.
Tavistock were beginning to dominate, and after prolonged pressure in the Liskeard goal area, were awarded another penalty corner. It was captain Kevin Lethbridge?s turn to show how to strike the ball with ferocious pace and accuracy to put the game safe.
After another good team performance Tavistock moved up to fourth in the league, only two points behind Bodmin who they play this week for third place.
