I RETIRED from all football last Sunday and would like to thank all the players, but especially my husband, Jeff, for putting up with 16 years of coaching football teams.

It's now time for younger people who are perhaps retiring from the game themselves to put something back into the sport.

The town has a number of very talented young players and with the facilities that Tavistock now has, there is no excuse for losing them to other clubs. I have met many different people during my time with football, some supportive, some not so.

The people who have most impressed are the late Robin Fenner, the late Keith Hoskin, Aileen Ishmail, Will Reed, Derek Pethick, Adrian Rockey, Dene Case, Mark Wickett, Allen Lewis and Jim Lothian, who started it all in the first place for me — all local people without any other motive but to assist local football and with the vision and drive to do so.

It's now time for the youngsters to get into coaching.
