Carlsberg South West Peninsula Throgmorton Cup Liverton 0 Tavistock 6 IT began with a whisper but soon the travelling band of die- hard Tavistock supporters voices could be heard reverberating around the lonely Liverton ground; the season is back on track for the Lambs after a catastrophic start to the season and there really is light at the end of the tunnel. Truth be told this second round league cup tie was never a true contest, Tavistock were superior in every facet of the game as they tormented their opponents running out emphatic 6-0 victors. Liverton tried to bridge the gap in class with a somewhat over aggressive approach and as a direct result the visitors lost Matti Allen after just five minutes with what could prove to be a serious injury. That it took 25 minutes for Tavistock to open the scoring was a surprise but a good interplay between Stringer and Krac saw Glyn Hobbs arrive from deep to put the ball into the net to make it 1-0. The home team were hanging by a thread under a constant barrage of pressure and it was only a matter of time before they capitulated. Tavistock were in no mood to ease off and further goals from Stringer, Conday, Hobbs and Coxon in the space of ten minutes saw the visitors out of sight by half-time. In the second half Tavistock continued to dominate and only poor finishing kept the score below double figures. Will Stringer capped a fine game by scoring a sixth goal and the home team lost their composure, indulging in some crude challenges, particularly on Glynn Hobbs who to his credit did not take the bait. This was a comprehensive win and confidence ran through the team from back to front. A fine team performance which should be the platform for the club to start climbing the league, starting on Friday with an attractive fixture away to Bodmin who will surely have noted this result. l Next game for Tavistock in the SWPL is tomorrow away to Bodmin.
