A TEAM led by Devon and Cornwall Constabulary Chief Constable Sir John Evans will be taking part in an arduous cycling, running and rowing challenge next month to raise money for a South West charity.
The Chief Constable's Charity Challenge 2002 team will endeavour to cycle 250 miles, yomp over the peaks of Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor and row across a section of the Tamar River in a whaler.
They will visit each of the four area headquarters during their week-long challenge to collect cheques from fund-raising events in each district.
The small team will set off from Land's End on Monday, April 8, and arrive at police headquarters at Middlemoor, in Exeter on Friday, April 12. Before setting out on a walk across Dartmoor on the penultimate day of the challenge, the team will stay overnight in Bridestowe.
Sir John Evans is patron of Dream-A-Way, a charity which aims to provide holidays and outings for people of all ages with a disability.
It is hoped the Chief Constable's challenge can raise £10,000 for Dream-A-Way, which would entitle the charity to match funding from the Camelot Foundation.
