THE opening day of Yelverton Bowling Club was successfully held on Saturday April 29 with the club?s president, Sir Frank Kitson delivering the first wood. Members enjoyed playing eighteen ends on the club?s green which has undergone further upgrading and improvement during the close season. The previous weekend on New Members? Day fourteen potential members were introduced to the game of bowls by the club?s coaching staff. The club is celebrating the success of winning the Winter Evening League ? Division 3 and gaining promotion to Division 2. Maurice Hellier and Ron Collier have been awarded County honours by being selected to play for Devon against South West Counties. On July 12 the club has been chosen to host the Area Seven President?s team at Yelverton.
