TAVISTOCK Sir Francis Drake Bowling Clubs began their week with Wednesday?s home game against Henleaze Bowling Club. The afternoon ended as 101-81 victory for Tavistock after they won on three of the five rinks played. Tavistock rink results: Skip Barry Chappell led his team of Yvonne Meneer, Tom Percival and Frank Walsh to a 23-16 victory; skip Mike Allen and his squad of Betty Browse, Henry Lovell and Marlene Paramor won 22-14; skip Vic Stacey with Val Southern, Der Saunders and Barry Carter playing his first competitive match, notched up a 23-12 victory; skip Ernie Piper with David Perry, Albert Townsend and Jenny Vogelaar saw their opposition win 19-17 thanks to them winning the last two ends of the game by two shots; skip Malcolm Bloomer and Charlie Cummings, Jill Lacayo and Ray Meneer went down 16-20 after they lost the last four ends of their hard fought contest. Thursday saw five rinks of Tavistock players facing a mixed team from Torpoint in a match which ended as a 116-62 victory for the Tavistock squad after they won all five rinks. Skip Barry Chappell and his squad of David Perry, George Blackburn and Bob Mitchell won 23-12 after scoring 11 shots over the last six ends. Skip Vic Stacey with Ray Meneer, Charlie Cummbings and Marlene Paramor, won 26-11, whilst skip Mike Allen led his crew of Jill Lacayo and Shirley Blackburn to a 26-6 victory. Skip Ernie Piper and his team of Wallace Northey and Diana Smirles won 20-15. On Friday Tavistock were at home to Cullompton in a four rink match which ended as 70-68 victory for the visitors after each side won two rinks. Tavistock skip Ernie Piper and Val Southern, Charlie Cummings and Harvey Leach won 20-12, whilst skip Betty Browse and George Blackburn, Brian Ellicott and Mike Silcox won 23-19. Skips Sue Silcox(11-19) and Mike Allen (14-20) both tasted defeat. The ladies? section faced Plymtock Birds on Tuesday and won their match 47-37, after skip Betty Browse and her squad of Marion Allen Jenny Vogalaar and Val Southern lost 19-21 and skip Sue Silcox with Shirley Blackburn, Marlene Paramore and Yvonne Meneer had a 28-16 victory.
