Tavistock skip, Clive Jago, and team of Bob Powell-Thomas, Derek Bradford and Marlene Paramor won 27-12. Skip Jill Lacayo and crew of Brian Preece, Norman Thornhill and Barry Chappell won 26-19 and skip Roy Northam and squad of Gordon Northey, Joan Northey and Brian Davis managed a 22-22 draw after their opponents scored sixteen shots in the second half of the game. Skip Jon Smith won 22-14, thanks to his team of Brian Lamb, Viv Powell-Thomas and Bill Ashe. Skip Norman Paramor and squad of Ernie Piper, Vic Stacey and Shirley Blackburn drew 18-18, when the opposition scored ten shots in the last five ends of the game. Skip Betty Browse and her team lost 16-18. Wednesday?s mixed friendly match against Plymstock ended in a 84-65 win for Tavistock, after skip Der Saunders and crew of Ernie Piper, Lauri Smith and Mike Silcox won 21-15, and skip Roy Northam, ably assisted by Pat Sykes, Albert Townsend and John Timmins won 32-12. Skips George Blackburn (15-18) and John Smith (16-20) both led losing rinks. The Tavistock ladies inter-club match against Plymstock on Wednesday was the first of their three ladies? matches scheduled during the week. the game ended as a 40-39 win for Tavistock, after skip Yvonne Meneer and team lost 17-23, and skip Jill Lacayo and crew won 23-16. The ladies now face Bradstock in the next round of the competition. The ladies? second game was Thursday?s league match at Yealmpton, which Tavistock won 41-32, thanks to a good 21-8 victory by skip Yvonne Meneer and team of Sue Silcox, Shirley Blackburn and Betty Browse. Skip Jill Lacayo and crew lost 20-24, and the friendly rink played alongside the league games saw skip Henny Bawden and team of Joan Northey, Diana Smirles and Jenny Aldridge win 17-15. The ladies? third game of the week saw them facing Yelverton ladies in a two-rink friendly on Friday. Tavistock ladies lost the match 37-41, with skip Betty Browse and team losing 17-25 and skip Jill Lacayo and squad winning 20-16. Thursday saw the men?s evening league team facing Yealmpton on the Tavistock green. The match ended as a 68-73 win for Tavistock, with skip Malcolm Bloomer leading his squad to a 30-15 victory and skip Norman Paramor?s rink winning 27-17. Skip Clive Jago and squad drew their game 19-19, while skip Roy Northam lost 16-22. Barnstaple were Saturday?s visitors for a mixed match that they won 112-110.
