WEST Devon farmers will be able to find out directly how to apply to the single payment scheme as a DEFRA roadshow arrives in the county this week. The new payment is one of the biggest changes in farming in 30 years and farmers can raise their concerns at the Matford Centre (cattle market) at Exeter on Thursday February 10. There will be two events, one starting at 9am and one at 2.30pm, which will include short presentations on the SPS together with the application form and how to apply. Individual concerns will be addressed during question and answers. Demand is expected to be heavy and places for the event, one per farm, will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis.
