BRENTOR resident Peter Clement has been causing a stir at his stall at Plymouth Market by singing to his customers.

But he has good reason to practise — Peter has been cast in one of the leading roles in the Plymouth Gilbert and Sullivan Fellowship's next production at the Theatre Royal, 'The Mikado'.

In the comic opera, to be performed June 13-17, Peter has been cast as Poo Bah, the pretentious Lord High Everything-Else.

This is his first solo part in a Gilbert and Sullivan opera — he has previously sung in the chorus of 'The Pirates of Penzance' with Tavistock Operatic Society. He is, however, well known to Tavistock audiences for his principal roles in 'Oklahoma' (Judd), 'Annie' (Rooster) and 'Brigadoon' (McGregor) at the Wharf.
