MORE than 40% of telephone calls to DWP helplines go unanswered, according to new government figures. The figures show that approximately 150 million calls have been made to DWP helplines since 2002. Over 62 million received an engaged tone or were abandoned whilst the caller waited in a queue. The worst individual DWP helpline in terms of calls missed was that for attendance allowance/disability living allowance with 79% of calls unanswered! Rather than waste your time telephoning a helpline there is a simple way to find out if you could be missing out on any extra benefits.
