THE PROJECT manager of the Calstock community interest company 'Tamar Grow Local' has been recognised for his contribution to environmental sustainability.
Simon Platten was one of the nine recipients of the UCP (Unlocking Cornish Potential) awards held in St Austell last Friday.
The UCP Celebration Event recognised the huge impact made by graduates working with Cornish companies, brought together by the ESF (European Social Fund) Convergence funded project, Unlocking Cornish Potential.
The event marked the achievements of the growing number of graduate level positions being created in small to medium sized Cornish companies, and the outcomes that can be achieved when the mix is right.
UCP supports companies to engage with graduates, by providing mentoring and training, as well as a potential wage subsidy for the first 12 months.
Simon Platten has been involved in bee-keeping co-operatives, community orchards, pop-up farmers markets, river distribution trips, restored walled gardens, composting initiatives and village vegetable schemes while with Tamar Grow Local.
