TAVISTOCK College were hosts for Tavistock Sir Francis Drake Bowling Club's annual dinner and presentation of trophies evening on

October 6.

College catering manager, David Woodward, and his staff laid on a superb dinner in the college refectory and were complimented on the quality of the meal, service and surroundings by the 70 guests who attended.

Mayor Judith Williams and Andrew Cole from the club sponsors, R J Temple plc, presented some 32 trophies to the club competition winners and runners-up.

Trophies presented were: club men's champion, Malcolm Bloomer; runner-up: Derwent Saunders. Ladies' champion: winner, Yvonne Meneer; runner-up: Jean Flay. Men's handicap: winner: Rob Bowhay; runner-up Richard Curtis. Ladies' handicap: winner: Yvonne Meneer; runner-up: Marion Allen. Men's Kerswill Cup: winner: Derwent Saunders; runner-up Bernie Downs. ladies' two-wood; winner: Betty Browse; runner-up, Dorice Hicks. Men's Muzzlewhite Cup: winner: Gordon Northey; runner-up Wallace Northey. Ladies' Jackie Fenner Trophy: winner, Yvonne Meneer; runner-up, Marlene Paramor.

Men's pairs, winners: Richard Curtis and Derek Bradford; runners-up Eric Stevens and Derek Bradford.

Mixed pairs, winners: Richard Curtis and Freda Isaac; runners-up: Rob Bowhay and Betty Browse.

Mixed triples, winners: Eric Stevens, Norman Paramor and Marlene Paramor; runners-up: Walter Meek, Mike Allen and Marion Allen.

The club looks forward to a winter season of indoor matches at various venues across Devon and Cornwall, with the first match due this Saturday at Bodmin.
