NINE Explorer Scouts and one Brownie leader from West Devon were presented with their silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards last Thursday.
At a presentation evening in Tavistock's Red and Black Club, Sally Yeo, Devon County Scout commissioner and Jenny Lawrence, Tavy division commissioner, presented the awards to the West Devon District Explorer Scouts.
Nine of those who were awarded, together with two others who are not pictured, will soon be going on to start their gold Duke of Edinburgh award this month.
Part of the award includes volunteering, and the group has decided to support CLIC Sargent over the next 12 months — supporting events organised by the charity and carrying out their own fundraising for the charity locally.
There are now two West Devon District Explorer Groups for youngsters aged 14 to 17, one meets on Wednesdays and the other on Fridays. For anymore information contact Colin Grice on 01822 810660.
