UNTIL such time as there are cycle lanes, cyclists are so vulnerable. In their trendy lycra with their Hermes helmets I sometimes think they feel like gods.

Sadly, a lone cyclist in darkish clothing on a murky autumn day with no light and sometimes headphones on can be invisible. They are silent and quite speedy, suddenly they appear out of the gloom.

If they had a fluorescent strip and a headlight that came on automatically when the light dimmed it would help. Failure to do this should perhaps result in being somewhat liable.

I write with feeling as my nephew now lies in a 12-week coma after a cycle accident. The driver was devastated but in no way liable.
