CALLING all runners! One of the most scenic runs in Devon is taking place next month ? the Oke Croak Run.
The Oke Croak is a fun and challenging ten-mile run among beautiful Dartmoor scenery, starting and finishing in Okehampton.
The course follows footpaths onto the moor from Simmons Park, then runners find their own way to Oke Tor and Yes Tor before heading back down to Okehampton.
Organiser Paul Bartlett said they were keen to encourage more local people to take part this year.
?You don?t have to be a fast runner to enter, just getting around the course is an achievement to be proud of,? he said.
The terrain can be rough and boggy in places and will require navigational skills if the weather is bad. Runners should be prepared for wet weather conditions and must be able to use a map and compass.
All finishers will receive a memento, with prizes for the first male and female and first veteran (50+) male and female. The minimum entry age is 18.
Changing facilities, toilets and a bar will be available at Simmons Park, courtesy of the football club.
The field will set off from Simmons Park at 12 noon on Sunday, June 27, but now is the time to enter.
The run is being supported by the Okehampton section of the Dartmoor Rescue Group, who will be providing checkpoints, marshalling and first aid.
All surplus proceeds from the event will go to the Dartmoor Rescue Group.
It costs £6 to enter in advance or £8 on the day. For more details contact Paul Bartlett on 01647 281692 or for a free entry form send an SAE to Churchgate Cottage, Drewsteignton, Devon, EX6 6QX or e-mail: [email protected]">[email protected]
