Callington Town 2
Holsworthy 1
A TIGHT opening was broken in the third minute when Callington took the lead. Matt Martin made the charge down the right wing and his cross was met by new boy Matt Shorter who netted his first goal for the club from about three yards.
Neither side's defence was troubled for much of the first half but Callington had that little bit extra and it was shown on the hour when they doubled their lead. Midfielder turned striker Gary Williams brought his tally to five goals in three games as he placed the ball neatly beyond the Holsworthy keeper Adrian Lamerton.
Much of the resurgence of Callington recently has been because of their never-say-die attitude and this was shown as the match neared its finale with stand-in keeper Wayne Wormald in great form and defender Adam Bartlett giving a man of the match performance.
They were beaten late on when Nick Griffiths fired home from the edge of the box, but it was too little too late as Callington grasped the three points.

A DESPERATE final ten minutes could not yield enough goals to give Callington the point they deserved at Priory Park last Wednesday.
On 22 minutes the match exploded into life as Callington took the lead. Tilbury was upended 25 yards out and Gary Williams set up the ball then fired high into the left hand corner of James Dungey's net. But within three minutes Bodmin levelled when Paul Waters met a cross to head past Paul Blatchford.
It was the home side who were celebrating a second goal when Neil Mallett calmly lifted a cross over Blatchford.
The second half saw Bodmin hit a third goal on 54 minutes. The ball struck a defender and rolled in the direction of Blatchford who picked it up only to see the referee pointing for an inderect free kick ten yards out. Paul Waters fired home the resultant kick low into the net.
Bodmin's Andrew Watkins fired home a fourth on 68 minutes.
Pete Southcott saw a header disallowed on 75 minutes, but five minutes later Callington got a goal back. Tilbury was the creator with a mazy run on the left and when he crossed the ball from the byline, Ruark was on hand to tap home for his first goal of the season.
With two minutes left, Williams fired home his second of the game to set up a frenetic last three minutes, but Bodmin held out.
