LIGHTNING shattered cottage windows at Horndon, near Mary Tavy, last Thursday morning and caused a power failure in around a dozen homes.
Tavistock fire chief Chris Neale said the strike also scorched decorations, damaged a water main and blew out telephone lines at the cottage.
No-one was hurt during the lightning strike, although the occupants of the cottage were 'quite stressed' by the incident, said Mr Neale.
