A MEMBER of Okehampton Inner Wheel has putted her way to victory in a golf competition.

The annual conference of the association of Inner Wheel Clubs in Great Britain and Ireland was held from April 22 to April 24, and before the conference, St Mellion hosted the Inner Wheel golf competition.

The winner of the Stableford competition was Sheila Box, president of the Inner Wheel Club of Okehampton. Her victory was the first time a member from Okehampton's Inner Wheel district has won the award. She was presented with the Rose Bowl trophy by the association president, Dr Sheila Halliday-Pegg — pictured.

More than 1,800 ladies gathered from across the country to attend the conference and discuss the ideals of Inner Wheel, the largest ladies' service and fellowship organisation in the world.

Among those in attendance were amputee and marathon runner Chris Moon, Lars Tharp from the Antiques Roadshow and Gail Stuart, daughter of Eric Morecombe.
