A BBC FILM crew descended on Kelly College in Tavistock recently, to film former Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies for a series of short films for broadcast during the Summer 2012 London Olympic Games.

Just before half term the film crew arrived at Kelly to film footage that will be used in a series of short films called 'Talent Guides', to be brooadcast at prime times during the Olympics.

The BBC will be featuring 16 talent guides, each recounting the story of an iconic former Olympic star, showing how they developed during their early years in the sport. This particular guide will feature Sharron Davies whose training at Kelly College was pivotal to her Olympic and international success.

Sharron, who is also a patron of Kelly's 50m Olympic School Project, was interviewed in the college grounds, re-living her time at the school and in the pool — she was the first female pupil at the college as well as being a founder member of the Kelly Swim Squad.

While at Kelly Sharron prepared for the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, where she won the silver medal in the 400m individual medley setting a British record that stood for 25 years.

She was interviewed along with former coach Archie Brew and training partner Robin Brew, also an Olympian and currently director of swimming at Kelly.

The talent guides will be shown throughout the summer Olympic footage on the BBC, with an expected audience of more than seven million viewers.
