A CALLINGTON runner is on a roll after winning her second marathon in a month.

Sharon Daw, 38, was the first woman to complete the Tresco Marathon on Sunday — she crossed the finish line in three hours and 22 minutes.

The mother-of-two won the Duchy Marathon in Redruth in March and is being encouraged to go for the hat-trick by competing in the last of the three Cornish marathons in November at Pensilva.

Sharon is celebrating her tenth anniversary as a marathon runner this year and is thrilled she is achieving so much in 2004.

'I have never run the Tresco Marathon but after taking part in the London Marathon three times I felt like a change,' she said.

The 26 mile marathon consists of seven and a half laps of the island and this year attracted 120 runners, raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

'There were no overcrowding problems like in London and it is a beautiful island — although the concrete course was a bit laborious.

'It was great to be first and I hope to have another go next year and try and beat the course record of three hours and 18 minutes.'

Sharon, who raised £250 for the charity, will have her named engraved on the Tresco Marathon Gold Cup and her gifts for winning were a rose bowl and £200 in sports vouchers.

The runner's marathon success has made her a star in the community but her biggest fans are her children Xavia, four and Austin, three: 'They think Mummy's wonderful at the moment,' she said.
