NEW fitness equipment has been installed at the Launceston Road Recreation Ground in Callington as part of a £12,000 project to get everyone from tiny tots to grandparents in shape.
The four pieces of equipment are designed to exercise different parts of the body and are there for all generations, including pensioners who would like to increase or introduce a daily exercise regime at no cost. Each piece will have its own detailed instruction on how to use it so that people can gain the maximum benefit.
Funding has been provided by the town council and Viridor credits and more equipment will be installed at a later date.
Work to revamp the park will include a new use for the old shelter which has now become an 'eyesore', according to councillors.
Block work will be completed at the front face and it will be repainted, back-filled and planted up as a sensory garden with bench seating along one wall.
The official opening of the new equipment by the portreeve and deputy mayor takes place on May 7.
