A BUILDING in Quoditch Cross, Ashwater, was heavily smoke logged from a fire involving an oil-fired Rayburn in the kitchen on Sunday.

Crews from Holsworthy, Hatherleigh, Okehampton and South Molton extinguished the fire in the single storey building using six breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, one safety jet, two dry powder extinguishers and a positive pressure fan.

The whole kitchen was left severely damaged by fire, smoke and water, 50% of the property was severely damaged by smoke and heat and the remainder of the property was moderately damaged by smoke.

One male and one female suffered with slight smoke inhalation.
