PREPARATIONS are gathering pace for the 27th Dartmoor Folk Festival later this year, organisers of the event were told at their annual meeting.
Dartmoor Folk Festival Association chairman Jason Rice, a member of the Dartmoor Pixie Band, outlined details of the popular event which will take place in South Zeal, over the weekend of August 6, 7 and 8.
He described last year?s festival as ?fantastic? adding that unusually, the weather during the weekend was a little too hot!
Mr Rice said the Music Hall was a great evening, made even more special by the occasion being used by entertainers Ned and Martha, to mark their retirement.
He took the opportunity to thank all those who helped to make the festival such a success, especially the committee members, sponsors and residents of South Zeal.
Treasurer Philip Holmes presented the accounts and said the festival was in a good financial position.

Vice-president, Mark Bazeley; chairman, Jason Rice; vice-chairman, Ed Rennie; secretary, Jane White; assistant secretary, Annie Rennie; treasurer, Philip Holmes; assistant treasurer, Judy Sanders; press officer, Alan Quick; campsite warden, Lesley Wormold; artistic directors, Mark and Sarah Bazeley; assistant craft organiser, John Berry; site foreman, Martin White; health and safety, Andy Frangleton, archivists, Bob and Jacqueline Patten.
Victory Hall representatives, Clifford White, John Berry; Grant Aid/sponsorship, Alan Quick; assistant Grant Aid/sponsorship, Colin Eversett; dance team director, Peter Wormold and new committee member, Andrew White.
The health and safety committee members were re-elected en bloc.
Life President of the Dartmoor Folk Festival Association is Mrs Joyce Cann, wife of the late founder of the festival, Mr Bob Cann, who received the British Empire Medal for his service to folk music.
