VISITORS to the Okehampton Show today (Thursday) will be able to take the opportunity to find out more about a very special church service which takes place regularly in the town.

Attenders from the Puzzle Tree Drop In Centre will be helping at the church tent at the show, and inviting people to come along and join the Puzzle Tree Praise service.

The Rev David Muir, deanery pioneer minister, said: On the second Friday of each month, adults with a learning disability, their families, carers and friends gather for a short service that is designed to give simple and informal expression to Christian faith.

It may be simple but it is also profound, and many of the wider congregation who also attend find it moving and uplifting. One of the most pleasing aspects of the service is how adults with a learning disability have proved so inspiring to others.

The Rector of Okehampton, the Rev Stephen Cook, said: It is moving to see people with a learning disability take a full part in each service.

Some form a little choir to lead the singing, others give a bible reading. Everyone has a chance to offer a prayer.

The next services are tomorrow (Friday) and on September 10 at 2.30pm at All Saints Church all are welcome.
