A FAIRGROUND centre at Lifton was the location for a photo and film shoot for a top music award show being screened this week. The Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre was the backdrop for the shoot and will accompany the contenders for this years NME Music Awards, staged at London's O2 Arena. The Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs, Babyshambles, The Cribs, Klaxons and Muse are among those nominated. The awards ceremony will take place at the Big Gig event, tonight (Thursday) and are due to be aired tomorrow (Friday). Bristol based production company 'Hello Charlie' produced the film under the theme 'The Lost Fairground', due to the centre's unique collection of working vintage rides and stalls and undercover facilities. A spokesman for the production company said: 'The range of surreal images is amazing, absolutely unique. We had great fun filming there.' The opening shots, of a pair of metal gates being unlocked with bolt cutters, was shot outside the building. Footage was also shot on The Ark, Dodgems, Skid and Arcade. Other locations used for filming specific images were Brighton Pier and Brean Leisure Park. The crew of six shot the film over a ten hour period on February 1, with some scenes filmed after darkness fell. The Fairground Heritage Trust is working hard at attracting more clients to use the location facilities on offer.
