OVERNIGHT road maintenance work, including resurfacing and stud replacement, started this week on the A30 and lasts until Friday, April 1.

The work is being carried out between 8pm and 6am the following morning and involves closing various sections of the road at different times along the 15 miles between Sourton Cross and Tavistock road junctions.

The closures are to allow routine road maintenance to be carried out in a safe manner. The works also include white line painting.

Diversions will be in operation and will be signed in advance. Drivers should note and follow the symbol signs.

Highways Agency Project Sponsor, Alexis Wood, said: 'This work will maintain road safety and provide an improved road surface.

'It is being carried out at night to cause the least possible inconvenience but we would advise road users to allow slightly longer for their journeys.'

Traffic will be diverted around the various sections of the works using parts of the old A30. These diversions will be clearly signed.

Eastbound closures took place this week. Westbound closures start tomorrow (Friday) from Sourton Cross to Stowford. March 14 to 18, Sourton Cross to Lifton; March 21, Sourton Cross to Tavistock road; March 22 to April 1 (less weekend) Sourton Cross to Stowford.
