Supplementary cup

Tavistock Seconds 2

Polperro 0

AFTER a great home win against Bodmin Town last week Tavistock had their fighting spirit back against Polperro at Langsford Park in this first round cup tie.

The home side were strengthened with Conday, Stringer and Southgate getting a second team call up as there was no first team fixture.

The game started brightly with the Lambs having most of the play with Conday and Cowling having chances on goal.

Against the run of play, a Polperro striker ran free but on a 'one on one' with Tavistock's Webber the goalkeeper stood tall and made two excellent saves.

It wasn't until the 30th minute when Tavistock took the lead when great vision from captain Parnoski picked out a run by Aaron Rocky, whose great touch and finish broke the deadlock to put the Lambs in front, just before the break.

The second half performance was much the same with Tavistock peppering the Polperro goal — hitting the woodwork three times through Cowling and Mennhenick.

It was great wing play from Hardy and good movement in the box by the Tavistock strikers that got them their second. Southgate was in the right place to slot home and effectively killed the game off — especially when a Polperro player was given a red card.

This result was a big lift for the Lambs, who kept a clean sheet thanks to great defending from Bacon and Stringer; there were also good battling performances from midfielders Rocky and McPherson.
