Tavistock RFC?seconds 81

Plymouth Argaum 10

THE Tavistock seconds hosted Plymouth Argaum in a club match. Despite the one-sided scoreline, the two teams produced an entertaining game.

The visitors' pack worked hard all afternoon and remained competitive throughout, but Argaum were unable to cope with the pace and powerful running of the Tavistock backs, with some good supporting performances from the back row of Jo Pook; Jamie Ross and veteran Matt Cole.

Tavistock opened the scoring after 12 minutes, with Jamie Ross racing through a gap in the visitors' defence.

A further four tries followed before half-time and eight more in the second half. Centre Nick Lane; full-back Will Glover and flanker Tony Worral all scored three tries; Jamie Ross bagged (2) and flanker Jo Pook and scrumhalf Jon Bellamy 1 each. Martin Credicott booted seven conversions and Nick Lane one. To their credit, Argaum stuck to the task and scored two tries, one at the end of each half, bringing the final score to 81-10 to the home side.

Skipper for the day, Lee Easton, was always in the thick of the action; Gareth Puttock worked hard in the line-out and front row men Jason Ward and Dave and Tony Welsh never let their opposite numbers get the upper hand.
